The internecine world of Washington politics, with dirty dealing on both sides of the aisle, is seen through the perspective of conservative Democratic Congressman, Francis Underwood, a devilishly brilliant wheeler-dealer who relishes the down-and-dirty business of the Beltway. But when Francis is passed over for a promised cabinet post by the new President Elect, he sets out to redress the wrong – ingeniously, covertly, and nefariously.
