Imagine Television and Fox 21 will begin production on August 28, 2013 on a brand new A&E Television Networks crime-drama series titled “Those Who Kill”, inspired by the books of Danish writer and journalist Elsebeth Egholm. Email submissions are now being accepted by the local extras casting director in Pittsburgh, PA where shooting on the series will take place from August 28 through December 6, 2013. In addition to the extras, stand-ins, and photo doubles, the principal actor casting directors in Los Angeles and New York are holding auditions for series regulars, recurring roles, guest starring roles, and day players. A Danish version of this show aired in Denmark as two five-part series in 2011.

“Those Who Kill” revolves around a police detective and a forensic profiler who possess a deep understanding of the serial killers they hunt. Boston Police Detective Catherine Jensen has just joined the Homicide Department, headed by Captain Bisgaard, and she’s eager to work her way to Lieutenant Detective. Faced with a bizarre and probably serial murder, Catherine instinctively turns to forensic psychologist Thomas Schaeffer, whose commitment and passion rival her own drive to solve murder cases. In addition to a professionally satisfying relationship, both Catherine and Thomas have a personal demon that both propels and hinders their success.

Starring in “Those Who Kill” is Academy Award nominee Chloë Sevigny playing the role of police detective Catherine Jensen. Sevigny’s most recent television credits have been “American Horror Story” for seven episodes in season 2, nine episodes of “Portlandia” in season 3, and three episodes of “The Mindy Project” season 1. Also starring in “Those Who Kill” is English actor James D’Arcy in the role of forensic profiler Thomas Schaffer. D’Arcy recently starred in the British TV movie “The Making of a Lady”, and played Anthony Perkins in the Fox Searchlight Pictures feature film “Hitchcock”.

Independent Spirit Awards nominee Joe Carnahan directed the pilot episode of “Those Who Kill”. Carnahan will also executive produce and direct another new A&E series called “Blood, Sweat & Tears”. Imagine Entertainment partner and Academy Award winner Brian Grazer will executive produce “Those Who Kill” with Imagine Television president Francie Calfo. Also executive producing is two-time Primetime Emmy award nominee Glen Morgan, Peter Bose, Jonas Allen, and David Petrarca. Howard Griffith will produce with Ellen Marie Blum serving as co-producer.

Various directors work different episodes during the season. In television shows composed of individual episodes, the television director’s role differs from that of a film director in that he or she may work only on some television episodes as opposed to the director of an entire film production. In episodic television productions, the major creative control resides with a producer of the show. The television producer with creative control is called the showrunner (in this case Glen Morgan).
