Uptown Productions in association with Schneider’s Bakery, Inc. are now in production on the new comedy series “Sam and Cat” for Nickelodeon Network. The casting director will be auditioning actors throughout the season for recurring roles, co-starring roles, and under five roles. The extras casting director will also be hiring background extras throughout the season. The pilot episode was shot in September, 2012 and Nickelodeon announced a series pickup with an order for 20 episodes on November 29, 2012. The show will premier September 10, 2013 on Nickelodeon.

“Sam and Cat” is a spinoff series from the hit Nickelodeon comedy shows “iCarly” and “VICTORiOUS”, and centers on the characters Samantha “Sam” Puckett and Cat Valentine from their respective hit shows. Sam travels from Seattle, where “iCarly” was set, to speak about web series at Hollywood Arts High School, the setting for “Victorious”. There she and Cat meet up and eventually become friends, roommates and partners in a babysitting business. The relationship between Sam and Cat is very “Odd Couple,” and it proves that opposites attract. Cat is very innocent and sweet. She loves everyone. Sam is brazen and brash, and it takes a bit more for her to warm up to people. Cat’s infectious behavior rubs off onto Sam, and they both end up getting along better than you think.

Starring in “Sam and Cat” is six-time Young Artists Award nominee and two-time Kids’ Choice Awards winner Jennette McCurdy as Sam Puckett. In addition to being a beautiful and talented actress, McCurdy is also a terrific country pop singer-songwriter. The gorgeous Ariana Grande stars as Cat Valentine. Grande is also an amazing singer and dancer who began performing on Broadway at age 15. Puckett and Grande both recently completed shooting the Nickelodeon Original TV Movie “Swindle,” which unites a cavalcade of Nick stars in an Ocean’s Eleven-type tale about kid empowerment and justice.

Directing the the pilot episode and first three episodes of the series is Steve Hoefer who has directed almost half of the “VICTORiOUS” episodes, over one-third of the “iCarly” episodes, and many episodes of “Zoey 101,” “Drake & Josh,” and “All That”. Hoefer started out as a production assistant on the hit NBC series “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” then moved on as stage manager on several shows including “Out All Night” and “Boy Meets World”. Hoefer graduated from University of Southern California with a BA in Theatre, then attended University of the Pacific studying Theatre, History, Communications.

Creator/Executive Producer/Showrunner for “Sam and Cat” is Dan Schneider, a seven-time Primetime Emmy Award nominee. Schneider has established himself as a dominant force in the world of family entertainment by creatively drawing on his affinity for youth culture at Nickelodeon. Under his Schneider’s Bakery Productions, he has carved a unique, progressive niche in the world of kid and family entertainment, most recently as creator and executive producer of the mega-hit Nickelodeon series iCarly starring Miranda Cosgrove, Victorious starring Victoria Justice, and Zoey 101 starring Jamie Lynn Spears.
