CW Television Network’s mega hit supernatural drama television series “The Vampire Diaries” is now in production on season number 4 in Atlanta, GA. The casting directors are auditioning actors for guest starring, recurring and day player roles in both Los Angeles and Atlanta. In addition to the acting roles, extras are being hired in Atlanta throughout the season. The network has ordered a full 22 episodes that will begin airing in October, 2012. “The Vampire Diaries” is based on the book series of the same name written by L. J. Smith.

The series has an impressive cast that stars Nina Dobrev in a double role as Elena Gilbert, a beautiful young girl caught between two vampire brothers, and as Katherine Pierce, the ruthless vampire the brothers knew and loved in the nineteenth century. Ian Somerhalder plays Damon Salvatore, the elder of the two vampire brothers, and Paul Wesley is Stefan Salvatore, the younger brother. Dobrev, Somerhalder and Wesley have each won Teen Choice Awards for their roles, among other award nominations and/or wins.

“The Vampire Diaries” is from Bonanza Productions, Alloy Entertainment and Outerbanks Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios. The executive producers are Kevin Williamson, Julie Plec, Leslie Morgenstein and Bob Levy. Williamson and Plec created the series based on L. J. Smith’s books which were initially commissioned by Elise Donner, editor of Alloy Entertainment in 1990. Canadian film and television director Chris Grismer has been at the helm on several episodes of “The Vampire Diaries”, and also serves as the show’s Supervising Producer

After the final volume of The Vampire Diaries books was released in March 2011, L. J. Smith’s involvement was terminated by the publisher and the episode was revised by a ghostwriter. Her termination was due to a dispute regarding a pivotal plot twist in the next installment of the series, “The Hunters: Phantom”. Consecutive Vampire Diaries installments have also been ghostwritten. She was also replaced on The Secret Circle series, by ghostwriter Aubrey Clark.

The CW Television Network premiered “The Vampire Diaries” on September 15, 2011. The show’s pilot episode attracted the largest audience of any series premiere since the network began in 2006, resulting in a full, 22-episode order on October 21, 2009. On February 16, 2010, The CW announced that it had renewed the show for a second season, which premiered on September 9, 2010. On April 26, 2011, The CW renewed the show for a third season. The third season premiered on September 15, 2011. On May 3, 2012, The CW renewed the series for a fourth season, which began filming the first episode on July 10, 2012.

Story:

Returning for its fourth season, “The Vampire Diaries” is the story of two vampire brothers, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) who are obsessed with the same girl, Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev). As the narrative develops in the course of the series, the focal point shifts on the mysterious past of the town involving Elena’s malevolent doppelgänger Katherine Pierce and the family of Original Vampires, all of which have an evil agenda of their own. In season 4, Elena dies as a human and awakens a vampire. Damon has always been trying to be something he’s not in order to please those around him, but in Season 4 he will not be a nice guy. Since Mystic Falls has a deficiency of adults now, Meredith (Torrey DeVitto) will be staying in town. Katherine Pierce will not be around much – if at all – until until Klaus (Joseph Morgan) is no longer a threat.
