AB Media Publishing, LLC

From the executive producing team that brought you the 5-time Emmy Award winning sitcom “How I Met Your Mother”, comes a brand new series pilot titled “The Goodwin Games”. This single camera comedy follows three siblings who must indulge their recently deceased father’s wishes that they compete against each other to determine which one inherits his $23 million fortune. Auditions for co-starring roles are taking place in Los Angeles and New York. Shooting will begin March 28, 2012 in Los Angeles. All of the extras will be cast in Los Angeles.

“The Goodwin Games” will air on FOX, which ordered the pilot only if actress Becki Newton signed on to star as Coney Goodwin. Her character is described as a math wiz and perfectionist as a child, however she ends up becoming a Las Vegas cocktail waitress who gets fired just before her father dies. Newton is an extremely talented actress who’s TV credits include “Guiding Light,” “Ugly Betty,” “Love Bites,” and “How I Met Your Mother” among many others. She earned two Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations for her role in “Ugly Betty”.

Also starring is Scott Foley as Henry Goodwin, a gifted and successful career man. Foley’s credits include “Scrubs,” “The Unit,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “Felicity” for which he earned 4 Teen Choice Awards nominations. Jake Lacey plays the youngest Goodwin sibling Jimmy, a ragged petty thief who is just released from jail. Lacy is best known for his portrayal of Casey Marion Davenport on the ABC sitcom “Better with You”. Like Becki Newton, Jake Lacey also worked on “Guiding Light” before its cancellation, although he was not a series regular.

North Carolina born and raised Peyton Reed will direct “The Goodwin Games” from a script written by Carter Bays, Craig Thomas, and Chris Harris – the same trio who are executive producing the project. Bays Thomas Productions shows have been nominated for 7 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, while Chris Harris has been nominated for 5 Primetime Emmys.

Roles up for grabs in “The Goodwin Games” include the three main characters as kids, ages 9 through 14; attractive young men and women in their early to mid-20’s; a big imposing prison guard; an elderly lady; late 40’s male. All types and ages of extras will be needed both union and non-union. This project is under AFTRA contract.

The Goodwin siblings must adhere to their fathers rather unorthodox rules before actually receiving any of the inheritance. Just as he did when they were kids – conducting playful competitions – old man Goodwin requires in his will that the three siblings must compete against each other in various ways to determine who becomes the sole heir to his fortune.
