Sony Pictures Television in association with Gran Via Productions and Nemo Films are in pre-production on a new one-hour drama series pilot titled “Wild Blue”. The show’s casting directors in Los Angeles and New York are holding auditions for series regulars, with additional auditions to take place as soon as the regulars are cast. The stand-ins and background extras will be cast throughout shooting on the series pilot episode, which begins mid-March, 2013 in San Diego and Los Angeles. There will be a very large number of people hired to play Navy personnel on the show.

“Wild Blue” centers on the men and women aboard the fictional modern-day version of the USS Lexington aircraft carrier. Captain Randall “Stick” Henley, the Commanding Officer of Lexington, is a former pilot in charge of a ship that has dire morale issues with the possibility for mutiny. Cal Merrick is the Admiral of the carrier strike group who has a wavering relationship with Henley. Allison Burke is an attractive senior NCIS investigator aboard ship, and is investigating the possible tampering with firing pins on an aircraft. The Senior enlisted man on the ship is Command Master Chief Donald Bowman. A missing plane, a misfired ordnance on another aircraft, and tensions high with North Korea, all add up to danger for the 6,000 sailors on board the USS Lexington.

Primetime Emmy Award Award winner Michael Dinner will direct the pilot episode of “Wild Blue” from a teleplay written by Taylor Elmore. Dinner has enjoyed a long and illustrious career as a director, producer, and screenwriter. His directorial credits include “The Wonder Years,” “Chicago Hope,” “Fantasy Island,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “Sons of Anarchy”. He is currently executive producer of the hit FX series “Justified”. Taylor Elmore served as executive story editor on the CBS series “Cold Case,” and is co-producer and writer on “Justified”.

Two-time Primetime Emmy Award Award winner Graham Yost of Nemo Films will executive produce. Yost is creator and executive producer of the series “Justified,” and is also well known for writing screenplays for such hit films as “Speed,” “Broken Arrow,” and “Hard Rain”. President of Gran Via Productions and Academy Award winner Mark Johnson will also executive produce. Johnson is currently executive producer of the AMC series “Breaking Bad”. “Wild Blue” director Michael Dinner and writer Taylor Elmore will also executive produce the series.
