Kurtzman/Orci Productions and 20th Century Fox Television are now filming the new modern–day supernatural thriller "Sleepy Hollow" based on Washington Irving's short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Shooting is taking place in Charlotte, NC. Casting directors in Los Angeles, New York, and Charlotte are holding auditions for starring, guest starring, possible recurring, and day player roles. The show's background performers are being cast by the Charlotte extras casting director. Television crew members and production staff are also being hired locally in North Carolina. The mystery-adventure action series is slated to premiere in September.
"Sleepy Hollow" centers on the Handsome but hardened Revolutionary War Captain Ichabod Crane, who finds himself thrust into present day Sleepy Hollow, indicted for the murder of a police officer. Crane not only has the task of proving his innocence to the serious and stern female police Lieutenant Mendez, but he also must make the troubled and wary local Sheriff Detective Abbie Archer believe that he is a traveler from the 18th Century. His wife Katrina is a stunningly beautiful nurse, but also a Wiccan capable of sorcery-like powers. But Ichabod Crane is not alone in his time-travels. A German Hessian mercenary who pits his tenacious fighting wits against Crane, only to have his head chopped off, is back in Sleepy Hollow and he's returned on a mission. This Headless Horseman is seeking vengeance and ushering in a powerful new evil upon this everytown.
Starring in "Sleepy Hollow" is English actor Tom Mison in the lead role of Ichabod Crane. Mison is a trained theatre actor who graduated from Webber-Douglas Academy, which is now part of University of London's Central School of Speech and Drama. Swedish actress Katia Winter is portraying Ichabod Crane's wife Katrina. Winter grew up in London since childhood, and worked in British television and films. She had a recurring role on "Dexter" in 2012. African-American actress Nicole Beharie plays Detective Abbie Archer. Beharie is a graduate of the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts & Humanities and also studied at The Juilliard School. The always amazing Orlando Jones co-stars as Lieutenant Frank Williams.
Filmmaker Len Wiseman directed the pilot episode of "Sleepy Hollow" from a teleplay written by the four-time Writers Guild of America WGA Award nominated producing/writing team of Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, along with up-and-coming writer Phillip Iscove. Wiseman's directorial credits include "Underworld," "Underworld: Evolution," "Live Free or Die Hard," and "Total Recall". He also directed the pilot episode of CBS's Hawaii Five-0 in 2010, a series executive produced and written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. Other Kurtzman and Orci writing credits include "Mission: Impossible III," "Transformers," "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," and the upcoming films "Star Trek Into Darkness" and "The Amazing Spider-Man 2".
In addition to writing the "Sleepy Hollow" script, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are also producing the show under the banner of their production company K/O Paper Products. Former Warner Bros. Television and ABC drama executive Heather Kadin is also serving as executive producer. Kadin is president of Kurtzman and Orci’s TV production division. The show's other writer Phillip Iscove is also executive producing along with director Len Wiseman.
